Taking Buses in Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi and Preparing for Transfers

Check both the bus number and direction, and press the stop button as you approach your stop. On days you travel farther from Seoul into Gyeonggi or Incheon, look up the return bus in advance too.

Remember this first

Check both the bus number and direction, and press the stop button as you approach your stop. On days you travel farther from Seoul into Gyeonggi or Incheon, look up the return bus in advance too.

01

Stops with the same name may serve different directions

Check not just the bus number but also the direction toward your destination and the stop's location. If there are separate median-lane and curbside stops, compare the map with the signs on site. Boarding at a same-named stop across the road could take you in the opposite direction.

02

Know your stop before you board

Before boarding, have your payment method ready and check that it can be used on the route. If you plan to transfer, find out how to use your card when transferring and what to do when you alight. Watch the next stop on the onboard display and press the stop button as you approach where you want to get off.

Sit down or hold a handrail while the bus is moving. If you have large luggage, check the route's luggage restrictions first. Once aboard, place it where it will not block the aisle or doors.

03

Look up the return bus for day trips too

Even if you can reach a place from Seoul, check separately whether transport lets you stay there late. In outer parts of Gyeonggi or Incheon, look up the bus from your final attraction to the station separately from the onward transport to Seoul. Base service intervals and last departures on official guidance or service information for your travel date.
