Choosing Discover Seoul Pass is easier if you first compare the paid attractions you want to visit and the validity period. If you are only visiting palaces, also consider individual tickets, and check the separate conditions for Changdeokgung's Secret Garden.
Choose the places you will visit before comparing passes
Discover Seoul Pass offers time-based passes and attraction-selection passes. The Seoul tourism information accessed in October 2026 lists 72-hour and 120-hour passes, Pick 3 Basic and Pick 3 Theme Park. Selection passes let you choose places from a defined list; the theme-park option includes 1 theme park and 2 other attractions.
First list the places you definitely want to visit and add up their individual admission prices. Even a place included in the pass may be difficult to visit if it is closed on your travel date or you cannot get a suitable reservation. Compare the places you can actually visit and the travel time, rather than just the number of included attractions. When buying, use the current prices and included facilities shown on the official sales page.
Check pass activation and on-site admission procedures separately
Time-based passes last for a set number of hours after activation, while Pick 3 lasts for 5 days after activation. If you plan to use airport transport or another benefit first on your arrival day, read the product information to check whether that use starts the pass's validity period.
At the venue, show the QR code in the app or on the physical card at the ticket counter, then enter with the ticket issued to you. Pick 3 uses the app's QR code, and each facility allows 1 admission. The physical pass's transport-card function requires a separate balance top-up, so do not treat attraction admission benefits and subway fares as the same thing.
Distinguish Secret Garden visits and special tours in your palace itinerary
If your trip mainly involves palaces such as Gyeongbokgung or Changdeokgung, compare individual tickets and the combination palace ticket too. Check whether Discover Seoul Pass's palace-related benefits cover admission alone or an experience including hanbok rental. You do not need to force extra places into your original itinerary just to use included benefits.
Changdeokgung's Secret Garden is separate from the palace buildings. You need both a palace-buildings ticket and a Secret Garden ticket to enter the garden, and must secure a place in a scheduled session. The combination palace ticket does not include the Secret Garden ticket. Check the Royal Palaces and Tombs Center's session, reservation and on-site ticket information for your visit date. For night visits or special events, follow the conditions specific to that event.
