Ordering Food Delivery to a Hotel: Apps, Address and Collection

Where in the hotel can you receive a delivery?

Before ordering, ask the front desk whether outside food is allowed and where to meet the courier. Knowing whether the courier can come to your room or whether you need to collect the food in the lobby or at the entrance makes it easier to find your delivery when it arrives.

Whether the front desk can order or pay on your behalf varies by accommodation. If you order yourself, prepare the Korean address and a short collection note, and decide how you will meet the courier.

What do you need to use Shuttle and Baemin?

According to its operator's app description, Shuttle offers email sign-up, overseas-card and PayPal payments, and English customer support. Phone-number verification is optional, but is required to use Shuttle Credit. Although the app interface supports several languages, food menus are provided in Korean and English. Enter your accommodation address, then choose from restaurants that actually deliver there.

Baemin provides separate guidance for international visitors. Before using it, check that guidance and the app's order screen for SMS verification with an overseas number, guest ordering and payment-method conditions. Even a method that does not require a Korean number may require you to receive text messages. Check that you can complete verification before choosing food.

Prepare a way to be contacted before paying

Delivery apps differ in their support for overseas phone numbers, cards and SMS verification. If you have a data-only SIM or eSIM, also check whether you can receive calls or texts. Before completing an order, read the final amount, delivery address and estimated arrival information screen by screen.

Enter the Korean address and where you will receive the food

Enter the Korean road-name address and building name, not just the hotel name. The map pin must also match the hotel's location. Add a room number only if your accommodation says it is needed and permits it. Keep the delivery note brief, stating where you will actually meet and how to contact you.

What if payment or communication fails?

Keep app notifications on until you receive the food. If a payment failure is shown, check your order history before trying again to reduce duplicate orders. If you cannot meet the sign-up, verification or payment conditions, alternatives include getting takeaway from a nearby restaurant or eating at your accommodation.
