Check whether the dish is an individual serving or meant to be shared
First check whether the displayed price is for one bowl or a dish shared by several people. Minimum party sizes and quantities for grilled dishes or hot pots may vary by restaurant. If you are eating alone, ask what you can order, and check whether the side dishes or extra food shown in photos are included as standard.
At a kiosk, choose dine-in or takeaway first
If you can change the language, select it first, then choose dine-in or takeaway. Check the menu item, quantity, extras and final amount in order before paying. When an order number appears, save the screen or receipt and find the collection point.
Reducing spice and removing an ingredient are different requests
Ask separately whether the spice level can be adjusted and whether a particular ingredient is included. Show the ingredients you cannot eat in Korean, and check whether they are in the broth, sauce or garnish too. If you have an allergy, also ask whether cooking equipment is shared. A menu name or photo alone is not enough to judge whether a dish is safe.
Ask before ordering if you want to pay separately
Some restaurants require payment first, while others take payment after the meal. Follow the signs at the counter or staff instructions. If you want each person to pay separately, ask whether this is possible when ordering. If an overseas card is declined, check the approval history first, then ask about another payment method.
