Exploring Seoul's Palaces, Hanok Neighborhoods and Museums

Choose either Gyeongbokgung or Changdeokgung and add nearby hanok alleys and exhibitions. Check Bukchon's visitor guidance, special palace visits and museum-program conditions separately.

Remember this first

Choose either Gyeongbokgung or Changdeokgung and add nearby hanok alleys and exhibitions. Check Bukchon's visitor guidance, special palace visits and museum-program conditions separately.

01

Plan your day around one palace

Spending a long time at both Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung and walking through several neighborhoods can make for a tight day. Choose one palace you want to see, then check the Royal Palaces and Tombs Center for visiting days, last admission and special-visit conditions. Do not assume that night visits or special programs take place every day.

02

Respect residents' living space in Bukchon

Before visiting Bukchon, check the permitted areas and times and the guidance on site. People live in the hanok alleys. Do not peer inside gates or linger noisily in front of homes, and leave space for others to pass when taking photos.

03

Choose the exhibition you want to see before choosing the museum building

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, and the National Museum of Korea have different locations and exhibitions. Choose after deciding which neighborhood to visit and what you want to see. Permanent exhibitions, special exhibitions and children's programs may have different booking, fee and operating conditions. If you need information in a particular language or a guided explanation, read the details for that exhibition or program.
