Follow AREX signs to the transportation center

From the Terminal 1 or 2 arrivals hall, follow AREX signs to the underground transportation center. Distinguish bus ticket counters from the railway concourse and find the Express Train information.

Buy an Express Train ticket to Seoul Station

Through official booking or an Express Train customer information center, confirm your departure terminal and arrival at Seoul Station. Distinguish this from using a transport card alone, and check the train number, car and seat.

Enter through the dedicated Express Train gates

Use your Express Train ticket to pass through the dedicated gates, then go to the indicated platform and reserved seat. Even if platform names resemble those for the All Stop Train, check the train type before boarding.

Continue toward your accommodation from Seoul Station

At Seoul Station, choose a subway, city bus or taxi route to match your accommodation address. For an onward KTX, check its separate ticket and departure area and add time for walking inside the station.

The All Stop Train calls at intermediate stations such as Hongik Univ. and Gongdeok. Check first whether Seoul Station is your actual destination or whether an intermediate station is closer to your accommodation.

These are one-way transport-card fares to Seoul Station for one adult. A single-use ticket costs an additional KRW 100 plus a separate refundable deposit of KRW 500.

Find All Stop Train boarding information

At your terminal's underground transportation center, head toward the All Stop Train. Distinguish its gates from the dedicated Express Train gates and check the signs toward Seoul Station.

Prepare a transport card or ticket to your destination

Check your transport-card balance or select your actual final station at the ticket machine. If you plan to continue by subway beyond Seoul Station, check the fare through to that station.

Take an All Stop Train toward Seoul Station

Check the platform information for the Seoul Station direction and board an All Stop Train. It calls at intermediate stations such as Hongik Univ. and Gongdeok, so check your alighting station too if your accommodation route changes.

Can Express Train and All Stop Train tickets be used interchangeably?

The Express Train uses a separate ticket and reserved seats. Distinguish it from the All Stop Train's transport-card and single-use tickets, and check your ticket and train type before passing the gates.

Does arriving at Seoul Station take me straight to Myeongdong or Gangnam?

Further travel is needed after Seoul Station. Look up subway transfers, bus or taxi routes using your accommodation address. Separate airport-arrival guides compare Myeongdong, Hongdae and Gangnam.

Do I need to go to Seoul Station if I am staying in Hongdae?

The All Stop Train calls at Hongik Univ. If staying in Hongdae, compare getting off there and walking or taking local transport to your accommodation before choosing a route to Seoul Station and back.

Can an AREX ticket also be used for KTX at Seoul Station?

KTX requires a separate ticket. Choose your connection allowing for immigration, baggage collection, waiting for AREX and movement inside Seoul Station. Check the train number and platform before departure.
