The original route uses Gangnam Station as its arrival point. The map's representative point may differ from your accommodation entrance. Allow separate time for immigration, baggage collection, waiting to board and travel to your accommodation after arrival.

AREX All Stop Train + Line 2

For Gangnam Station, take the AREX All Stop Train to Hongik Univ. Station and transfer to Line 2. Compare Bus 6009 if you prefer reaching a street-level stop without transfers. Gangnam covers a broad area, so check first whether your accommodation is nearest Gangnam Station, Sinnonhyeon or Yangjae.

Find AREX at your arrival terminal

At your arrival terminal, follow AREX signs to the transportation center on basement level 1. Check the All Stop Train toward Seoul Station and prepare a transport card or single-use ticket to your final destination.

Take AREX to Hongik Univ. Station

Board an All Stop Train toward Seoul Station and check transfer-station information. Distinguish the Express Train's tickets and gates from those for the All Stop Train.

Check the subway transfer direction

At Hongik Univ., transfer to Line 2 toward Hapjeong. Check the platform information for the direction to Gangnam via Dangsan and Sadang.

Check the direction to your accommodation at the arrival station

Alight at Gangnam Station and check the exit toward your accommodation. If staying in Sinnonhyeon, Yangjae or Samseong-dong, further travel from Gangnam Station may be needed.

This can reduce the number of transfers with luggage. Compare the distance from the alighting stop to your accommodation, and allow for road delays.

Compare the bus stop and accommodation locations

Buy a citybound Bus 6009 ticket. Compare the operator's Gangnam Station, Sinnonhyeon Station and Yangjae Station stop list with your accommodation address. Do not mistake airportbound stops for alighting points.

Check tickets and boarding areas for your terminal

Check the route's boarding area at airport ticket counters or through official information. Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 use different floors and boarding locations.

Board a citybound bus

Confirm your destination stop with the driver and put large bags in the luggage space indicated. Remember where they are stored so you can collect them when alighting.

Alight in Gangnam and travel to your accommodation

Alight at the citybound stop listed on your ticket and in the operator's guidance. After collecting luggage, compare your accommodation's Korean address and check a walking route or further public transport.

Why does the journey take a long time with only one transfer?

The AREX journey to Hongik Univ. is followed by a long Line 2 section via Sadang. We have not confirmed the current combined riding time for the two sections, so no figure is given here. Look up services for your travel date and add transfer walking and waiting time when comparing other routes.

Is the rail fare only for the journey from the airport to Hongik Univ.?

The total fare shown here is to Gangnam Station and includes the Line 2 transfer. Follow transfer signs and use the same card; do not add the basic subway fare again.

Can I still make the transfer if I arrive late at night?

Check both the last AREX train and the last connecting subway. Judge this using the time you can reach the boarding area after immigration and baggage collection. If connections have ended, compare a night bus for your destination with the airport's official taxis.

Is a bus convenient if I have a lot of luggage?

Fewer transfers can be an advantage, but check the walk between the alighting stop and your accommodation. Subway travel involves moving between platforms and exits, so compare elevator locations alongside your accommodation address.
