Incheon Itinerary · Half a Day

A History Outing: Goryeogungji Palace Site and Yongheunggung Palace on Ganghwa

Visit Goryeogungji Palace Site and Yongheunggung Palace separately within Ganghwa-eup, then finish with a meal. This is a half day focused on history without adding Ganghwa's distant mountains or beaches.

When traveling with someone who wants to read historical explanations slowly, you can adjust your pace within one town area. Do not assume a route has no slopes or stairs simply because it is for traveling with parents.

Traveling with parents · Solo travelers · Spouses · Walking between neighborhoods · Indoors and outdoors

Getting to the First Stop

Look up the actual departure stop in Seoul and services arriving at Ganghwa Bus Terminal. Allow for road conditions in Gimpo and Ganghwa rather than scheduling a tight start to your visit.

Half a Day · History in Ganghwa-eup

  1. Goryeogungji Palace Site on Ganghwa

Explore while distinguishing the palace site from the periods of the surviving buildings. Read the on-site explanations instead of assuming the whole original Goryeo palace remains intact.

Compare local buses, taxis and walking from Ganghwa Bus Terminal to the entrance of Goryeogungji Palace Site. If a long uphill walk is difficult, arrange a vehicle approach to the entrance first.

  2. Yongheunggung Palace

Move to another historic space within Ganghwa-eup to see the buildings and nearby lanes. Check each place's public access areas and entrance separately.

Find a public walking route from Goryeogungji Palace Site to Yongheunggung Palace. If you need to avoid stairs or slopes, compare vehicle options even for this short distance.

  3. A Meal and Rest in Ganghwa-eup

Have a meal nearby in town, then return to the terminal. Even if you want to walk farther, finish in nearby lanes instead of adding another island or Manisan.

Find transport back from the restaurant to Ganghwa Bus Terminal first.

Meals and Breaks

Make a meal in Ganghwa-eup one long break, and stop during visits whenever you need somewhere to sit. No particular restaurant's opening, group seating or allergy accommodations are guaranteed.

Rainy Days or Days When Walking Is Difficult

In heavy rain, do not walk through both outdoor heritage sites. Choose just one public visitor space or change the date. Do not assume you can enter heritage buildings for shelter from rain.

Preparing for the Journey Back

Return from your last meal stop to Ganghwa Bus Terminal and connect to Seoul-bound transport. Settle your return bus and onward journey to your accommodation after arriving in Seoul before planning a late visit.

Booking, Stairs and Weather Checks

  • This is a Ganghwa-eup itinerary. Do not connect Gyodongdo, Seokmodo and Jeondeungsa into the same half day.
  • This route has not been surveyed on site and confirmed barrier-free with regard to actual thresholds and stairs at the heritage sites.
