Ordering Food Delivery Without a Korean Phone Number

What to ask your accommodation first

If you want food delivered to accommodation in Seoul, Incheon or Gyeonggi, first ask whether your accommodation accepts deliveries. Some ordering options are available without a Korean number, but verification, payment and delivery coverage differ by service. Read the app-specific guidance and preparation steps below together.

Ask the hotel front desk or host where you should collect your food. A delivery app supporting the address does not mean the courier can reach your room door or that staff will receive the order for you.

Baemin (배달의민족)

Baemin officially states that you can order food without separate account registration by verifying an overseas phone number via text message. It announced that guest payments in Korean won using overseas credit cards have been supported since March 2024. It also provides app guidance in English, Chinese and Japanese.

Not needing a Korean phone number does not mean there is no text-message verification. Check that your overseas number can receive texts and that your card payment is actually approved. Approval is not guaranteed for every issuer or card type.

Shuttle

The official app description lists email registration, overseas card and PayPal payments, and English customer support. Phone-number verification is optional but is required to use Shuttle credit. The app interface supports 13 languages, while menu content is currently available only in Korean and English.

Enter your accommodation address first to check available restaurants and delivery areas. Do not assume you can order to every address in Korea.

WOWPASS K-Delivery

This is a separate delivery service for ordering and paying within the WOWPASS app. The official guide describes ordering without a Korean phone number, ID or Korean bank account and collecting at a hotel front desk.

The linked guide was updated on November 4, 2025. Recheck currently supported hotels, areas, hours and conditions in the app. This differs from paying with a WOWPASS card in a regular delivery app, and Airbnb support was not confirmed in this review. It does not mean ID requirements are waived for other procedures, such as card issuance.

Coupang Eats, Yogiyo and ordering services

This review could not sufficiently verify the full ordering process on Coupang Eats or Yogiyo for tourists without a Korean phone number or alien registration card through official sources. We do not conclude that they are unavailable, but we do not present them as confirmed ordering options. Coupang shopping and Coupay rules are not automatically applied to Coupang Eats.

If you use an ordering service such as Creatrip, first check current availability, delivery addresses, operating hours, service fees and cancellation terms. Grocery delivery and delivery of freshly prepared meals are different services.

Accommodation permission and collection point

Ask your hotel front desk or host about rules for bringing in outside food and receiving deliveries first. An app showing delivery availability does not guarantee room-door delivery or reception and storage by the front desk.

A number that can receive verification texts

Baemin's guest-ordering process specifies text-message verification using an overseas number. Check that you can actually receive texts at that number. Do not assume a data-only eSIM provides text reception or Korean identity verification.

Payment approval on the order screen

Support for overseas credit cards does not guarantee approval for every issuer, debit card or prepaid card. Check supported payment methods and the final approval result on the order screen. Read refund and cancellation conditions before using the service too.

Korean address and restaurants that deliver

Check your accommodation's Korean road-name address, building name and map pin, and enter the detailed address requested by the app. Minimum orders, delivery fees, estimated times and whether a restaurant is open vary by restaurant, address and time. Confirm them on the final order screen.

From ordering to collection

• Confirm that your accommodation allows deliveries and ask for the designated collection point.
• Enter your accommodation address in a supported app and check which restaurants you can order from.
• Complete the required verification, then check the menu items, quantities and selected options. If menu translations or requests are unclear, check with the restaurant or customer support before ordering.
• Check the total including delivery fees, estimated time and cancellation terms, then pay using a supported method.
• Check the order status and app messages, and collect the food yourself at a location permitted by your accommodation. Contact the app's customer support if a problem occurs.

Collecting safely

• Do not share a communal entrance code in delivery notes without your accommodation's permission. First check how to collect the order yourself in the lobby or at the building entrance.
• Do not assume hotel staff will order, pay or store food for you, or that the courier will come up to your room.
• Do not put card details, ID documents or verification codes in notes for your accommodation or public messages. Complete payment and verification through the service's official screens.

Do I need a Korean phone number to order food delivery?

Not necessarily. Baemin officially describes guest ordering with overseas-number text verification, while Shuttle describes email registration and optional phone-number verification. Verification is required to use Shuttle credit. Check each service's current conditions.

Can food be delivered to my hotel room door?

It depends on the hotel. Before ordering, ask the front desk whether delivery is permitted and where to collect it. An address being within the delivery area does not guarantee room access or collection by the front desk.

How much are delivery fees and minimum orders?

There is no universal fixed amount. Fees vary by restaurant, address and order time, so check the total, extra charges and minimum order on the order screen before paying.

What should I do if verification or payment fails?

Check the number you entered, text reception and supported payment methods, and contact official customer support. If your address is within coverage, check another supported app or ask your accommodation what help is available. Do not bypass verification by borrowing someone else's identity or verification code.
